Hi Everyone:
Vikki went to see the GI doctor today. He confirmed what the ER doc from Saturday suspected. She has been on the antibiotics so long that they are irritating her GI system. The drugs are doing more harm than good. It is unlikely, not impossible, at this point that the infection could return. He reviewed the tests from the weekend and thinks that her GI system is now sterile. No bacteria, no fungus, no nothing. Except some inflammation. She is to stop taking the antibiotics and anti-fungal meds. She is to resume taking probiotic supplement as well as yogurt to recolonize the good bacteria in her GI tract. Even as I write she is still experiencing some nausea. This should abate within 24 - 48 hours. She is continuing with a liquid diet for an another day or so and then she can try some real food again.
Thank you for your prayers, cards, phone calls and e-mails. They all mean so much to her.
Sola Deo Gloria,
Gregg

Vikki we love you and will continue to pray for you. The trouble with antibiotics is they kill everything so we will pray for the good bacteria to start up again. Gregg we love you too and will continue to pray for you.

I got to your blog from a link from Tricia Fortin. I am a friend of hers and I suffered from CDiff about 10 years ago, so I took an interest in your story right off. Interestingly, my grandmother had just sent me an article from the Tucson Arizona newspaper this past week. It might seem crazy, but you might want to ask your doctor about this.

Hope you get back to feeling normal soon!!!
If that link takes you to a registration page instead of the actual article, just type "superbug" into their search box and it will bring up an article from Wed. Nov 5th 2008 called "Treatment for nasty superbug is effective"
