I have decided to re-open the blog because of some recent developments. But, let me briefly recap what has transpired since Vikki's discharge on 10.08.2008. She has made slow but steady progress. Regaining her appetite, walking some, actually a lot for her, and requiring less sleep. Her pain has still required oral medication but she has switched to something in place of the narcotic.

Wednesday, 10.20.2008, she awoke with more abdominal discomfort that she should have at this point in the recovery. We were able to see the doctor, the surgeon, in the afternoon. He has restarted her on the antibiotics and the anti-fungal medication. She went back to the hospital, as an out-patient, for a set of abdominal x-rays and blood tests. There is the concern about an infectious relapse.

On Friday afternoon, 10.24.2008, she will see the infectious disease specialist for the first time since her discharge. The lab work results will be given to her then.

So, it is indeed Vikki's fervent hope and prayer that (a) there would not be a relapse or (b) that we have caught it at an early stage, therefore making it easier to treat and eliminate.

Please continue to pray for her, she gets so much encouragement knowing that you are doing just that.
