Wow. It is hard to believe that is now October 1st. Time flies even when you are not having fun.
Vikki has been pleasantly inundated with your cards. Some of you have sent more than one and she is just overjoyed. Her room is now decorated with several flower/plant arrangements. It is amazing how just a "little something" can brighten up the room.

Tuesday was a little rough for her. The incision sites for the two new drainage tubes were very sore today. She gave her PCA a workout but that is what it is there for. She resumed eating real food at lunch today. No walking.

Amazing what a change can take place in 24 hours. You can just see a difference in her countenance and that by itself is a joy for me. Real food again today. The surgeon decided to scale back her "liquid food." This hi powered concoction can deliver via the PICC line 3000 calories a day thereby providing more than enough nutrition but also suppressing your normal appetite. Hopefully now she will want to eat throughout the day +/- night. She can summon room service, actually the nursing staff, and request a snack at any time. Everything must continue to be low fat and low sodium.
She has resumed using her inspirometer to expand her lungs and we went for a walk this afternoon. She reports that she has had a reduction in pain since Monday's procedure. Baby steps in the right direction.
At supper she actually said that she thinks she may have turned a corner in her recovery. Let's hope so. Although no timetable has been set for her possible discharge, I have had some general information discussions with the nursing staff about what might be involved in her home recovery. Medications, drainage supplies and procedures, PICC line maintenance, oxygen, etc.

Praise God that Vikki is on the road to recovery. Only by His hand and our faith and prayer may Vikki soon be well enough to come home. We are keeping the both of you in our thoughts & prayers. Praise God for all he is doing. So glad Vikke, that you are feeling much better. Every step forward is great progress. Somehow, even when progress is small, just going forward lift us. Still praying. I love you both.
