Hi Everyone:
Monday was another up and down day. Morning started off by having her first meal of soft food as opposed to clear liquids. Vikki was not impressed. Her breakfast was some sort of coagulated mush that we think might have been cream of wheat. I will never look at wheat or wheat products in the same way ever again. Oh well; we will try to be appreciative and thankful for all blessings big and small.
Her surgeon visited and decided to attack the fluid retention problem by inserting an abdominal drainage tube. She was sent to Radiology, semi-sedated, the tube was inserted, and returned to her room. She awoke to a "hand grenade" attached to her belly. The grenade is a plastic receptacle for temporary storage of the drained fluid. Sorry if this is too "yucky".
That was the "up" but then followed the "down". The drug required to sedate her produced a temporary, about 1 hour, inhibition to go to the bathroom. She had an urge to go but couldn't. That passed and it was on to supper.
Chicken noodle soup with salt free crackers. Ummm-uh. Talk about delicious.
Breakfast Tuesday morning is really the best sign of returning to a dietary norm. Scrambled eggs, Canadian bacon, and grits. If that isn't good medicine I don't know what is.
I'm off to the hospital to check up on her. Will post later as necessary.
Many thanks for your love and prayers, Gregg
